Our Scotland

Start date: Friday 30 November 2007
End date: Friday 30 November 2007
Time: 7.30pm
Summary: our scotland: A dramatic presentation exploring our past and present identity as Scots. Where would you get a samba band, a Gaelic choir, break-dancers with a Bhangra soundtrack, musicians from Ghana, Chinese dance, contemporary dance with a Scottish/African fusion and an Irish Ceili Band together with Polish, Yiddish and Italian music?

Our Scotland tells the story of our multi-cultural existence going back 2,000 years from the Picts and the Romans to the present day and maps the world-travelling Scots as they traverse the globe. This is a story of immigration and emigration, of poverty and wealth, war and peace.

Scripted by Raymond Raszkowski Ross and Directed by Tony Cownie, Our Scotland is a multi-media experience incorporating film, music, dance, poetry and song, narrated by James MacPherson (Taggart) and Diana Milford (STV Scotland Today)

Our Scotland is part of 'Making Connections - Celebrating Diversity' - a series of events working with children and young people across Edinburgh to explore and celebrate the issue of cultural diversity and look at migration as a two-way process.
